Brian Stoltz and his new group The I-12 AllStars make their debut Friday, September 18 at Blazzue’s in Pensacola, FL. Known for his frequented shows in Fort Lauderdale, Del Ray Beach and Key West, it is not surprising that Stoltz would introduce a new band in the state he considers his second home, but this will be his first appearance in the north part of the state.
In addition to Stoltz on guitar and vocals he has Jimmy Messa from The Subdudes on bass and vocals, Tommy Chadwick, veteran with Freddy Fender and the J.J. Muggler Band on guitar and vocals and Harold “Boomer” Bosarge who toured for years with Vince Gill and Delbert McClinton on drums. Messa and Bosarge both appear on Stoltz’s upcoming release, Fast Changing World.
I wanted to have a group that all lived on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, hence the I-12 AllStars. They are old friends that I’ve wanted to play with for a long time. I particularly enjoy having Tommy in the band. Having that second guitar allows us to add acoustic guitars and dobro to the mix and do some things that I’ve never been able to do before. These guys are brilliant musicians who onstage play like they are possessed by uncontrolled demonic forces, but when they put their instruments down they are as laid back and gentle as one can expect. I like that – best of both worlds.
The band’s set consist of songs from Stoltz’s three solo releases as well as a few choice covers.
