Doors: 2PM

Showtime: 3PM.

Info on the shows follow:

WELCOME TO THE FROG POND AT BLUE MOON FARM HOUSE CONCERTS

It’s Sunday Social House Concert season at the Farm!!

Statement of Liability

Here at the farm we work very hard to bring everyone a safe place to enjoy, but being this is the great outdoors accidents such as (but not limited to) falls, bug bites, standing too close to a fire, walking into things and such, can happen.

By simply being on this property you agree to hold The Frog Pond, Blue Moon farm and it’s owners harmless and not liable for any injury sustained to you or someone under your care… If you do not agree with this policy we ask you to (carefully) enjoy the great musical outdoors elsewhere. ;o)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fall is here and the heat is fading away into Fall days, slow but   sure… I don’t know about y’all, but I’m ready for some great music,   good friends, tasty food and the feel of a fire in the moonlight.
For those of you that have been to The Frog Pond at Blue Moon Farm,   you know we’re referring to the stage and the community through music   that is created in bringing friends and music lovers together in a true   listening venue that is uncommonly magical on nights when the moon is   full and the smell of Cedar rides on a song.
If you are new to the concept of house concerts, welcome to our   family of friends!  If you’re a new and upcoming guest to the farm, we   hope your upcoming Frog Pond experience with private house concerts,    community through music and the arts is a magical and memorable one for   you. To acquaint you with what happens here at the farm, here’s a short   list of the history & things to do and keep in mind before   attending.. For those who’e been here, you already know what to   expect.;o)
The Frog Pond began with a dream and an idea based on Levon Helm’s   “Midnight Ramble”.  My good friend Grayson Capps put his relatively   large boot in my derriere to shove me into the dream I had to bring   people together through music. Last year we built a  stage made from   recycle materials & filled it with magical musical friends  ( “The   Frog Pond”). Already songwriters and musicians alike are spreading the   good word and our little stage, in just one year, has been host to   Spencer Bohren, Randall Bramblett, Kinky Friedman, Malcolm Holcolm,   David Olney, Sergio Webb, Webb Wilder, Drake White, Waylon and Jody   Payne, Lisa Mills, Will Kimbrough, Anthony Crawford, and so many more!!    It has become a place where musicians can ‘woodshed’ new material   together, network and play with other artists they would normally never   get to share their talents with while sharing those special times with a   community of folks outside of a public venue, a place where listening   is the norm and sharing the community of music, the arts and education   becomes a venue for making new friends & sharing common interests.   There are so many things in the world that tear us apart, music is   something that brings us together.
The Frog Pond is a private house concert, on a private farm that is   over 100 years old located just outside of Silverhill, Alabama.  The   stage sits under a 150 year old Cedar tree that faces the old house.. We   are a member of the Folk Alliance,  www.folkalliance.org/      and an RSVP is needed for all house concerts. Your newsletter here,    is your invitation to the Fall/Winter/Spring House concert season here   on the farm…Just email or message me though Facebook so I know your   coming for each Sunday Social you plan to attend.  ) We are not an open   to the public venue and ‘walk-in’s’ are not allowed into the farm.;o)    So, if you’re planning on attending any of the house concerts at the   farm, you must make sure you’ve reserved a place on the guest list..Our   capacity is limited and we want to keep our socials unique and intimate   for all who come to share the fires, the music and the food . If you’d   like to bring a guest with you, email me their names so I can add them   to the guest list at the farm gate under your name as your “guest”. If   you can give me their names and emails addresses, that’s even  better.;o)  If not, they can sign the email list once here should they  want to be  added to our address book.
The Frog Pond is an outside venue.. We have fires, wood stoves,   outdoor heaters and outbuildings that are heated if it’s cold. The old   farmhouse is heated as well.
Dressing for weather is important in keeping yourself comfortable..   We gather regardless of temperatures and unless it’s a monsoon, or   nonstop rain, we cover up the stage areas and soldier on with the music   and magic of the farm. Wear sensible shoes, (It’s a farm..lol) dress  for  the weather, bring an extra layer of clothing or blanket if you’re  cold  natured. Bring a chair if your inclined, a cooler with whatever  you’d  like to drink, and a dish of your choosing for the community  table  that’s set up in the old house.  Dishes can be something you love  to  cook or prepare that you’d like to share with folks, or if you’ve  no  time, chips, cookies or sweets are welcome.  Everything gets eaten,  and  some of the dishes that have been brought to share border on the   incredible.. From smoked mullet, to Boudin, to some of the most awesome   “Swamp” gumbo I’ve ever had, it has all been prepared with love and   kindness for the Frog Pond community table..;o) Throw away containers   are recommended.. I have serving utensils, cups, bowls, forks, napkins   and paper plates here already. We recycle on the farm so keep in mind   the recycle trash cans for aluminum can’s and plastic containers.. (If   anyone knows where I can recycle glass, I’d love to know of somewhere   locally..Maybe a beer bottle fence is in order with a few whiskey an   wine bottles for good measure..)
WEBSITE IS COMING! Christian Grizzard is helping with the website..   Here’s the link. Keep checking..Soon, very soon.. It’s still in   ‘construction’ right now.
www.thefrogpondatbluemoonfarm.com
email info@thefrogpondatbluemoonfarm.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A few rules of the farm and requests to our guests..

Number one & main rule~When in doubt, ASK..;o)

Here at the farm we work very hard to bring everyone a safe place to enjoy, but being this is the great outdoors accidents such as (but not limited to) falls, bug bites, standing too close to a fire and such things can happen. By simply being on this property you agree to hold The Frog Pond, Blue Moon farm and it’s owners harmless and not liable for any injury sustained to you or someone under your care… If you do not agree with this policy we ask you to (carefully) enjoy the great musical outdoors elsewhere. ;o)

No dogs, there are plenty of waggy tails here to love on.. (RiP Cheesie,.. sigh.., Possum, Trudy, Bucket and Doobee..(Yep, there’s a story in that there name..)

NO FIREWORKS!!

No underage children without parental supervision. We love kids and love it if they love music, but all children must remain within reach of their parents..Remember it’s a listening venue and children must remain quiet in the “Listening Zone” as we record all performances.

No drugs

No smoking within the buildings. Smoking is fine outside and there are cans for ashtrays and butts. Remember to be respectful of those ‘downwind’ from you.;o)

Petting the horses is fine from outside their field boundries. Please don’t go into the fields with the horses or the pens with the chickens. ;o) Or anywhere that is clearly marked for non-entrance.

We have fire extinguishers everywhere. If it looks like something is on fire that shouldn’t be, please feel free to use them & yell out FIRE ..lol..;o) Watch out for each other.. It truly takes a village.

A small flashlight is good to bring. The parking is in the field North of the house. So, a walk in the dark through the moonlight, (or lack of it) after it’s all over is in your future here at the farm.. Flashlights are also good to have if you decide to ‘wander’ to the port o let or to your car..

For some events camping is available if your driving a distance to get here. (We’ve had folks from MS, Fla, N.Y. Germany, Ark., LA, TN and Australia.. We have port o lets and an outdoor shower.

We encourage folks to use the port o lets as the farm is old and the well and septic tank are not far behind in age..lol

There’s a handicap ramp onto the deck of the old house, but there is NO handicap access to bathrooms if your in a wheelchair..

Should any ‘newbies’ have questions about any of the above. Please feel free to drop me an email or give me a call.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For house concerts the suggested donations may vary depending on the   cost of the artists playing the farm for that particular event, and  it’s  collected at the gate as your name is checked off the list.   The  cost  of the performers in total, determines the per person ‘donation’  at the  gate.  The music is a NOT FOR PROFIT event for the farm and I’ll  add the  suggested donation beside each upcoming performance event on  the  calendar below so that those attending know what we need to cover  the  costs.
Times may move an hour forward or back depending on daily temps,   weather or added opening artists to the list.. Any last min. changes   will be posted on Facebook. If your not on Facebook, just email me,   check the website or give me a call to ask any questions to stay   connected to farm news.
Blue Moon Farm is available for other private events now..  Weddings,   parties, birthdays, private music events.. Pass the word. It’s a great   place for private ‘gatherings’ of all kinds..
If you’d like to attend any of the house concerts..Get on the list.    If you find you’re not able to attend, please let me know so a space  can  be made for someone else. Remember, our capacity is limited and if  you  don’t show up after making your reservation, someone else doesn’t  get to  come. That’s a sad thing when it happens. Your reservation is  your  commitment to support the artists coming to the farm with your  donation  for them at the gate. A 24 hour heads up if you find you can’t  make it,  gives us time to give someone else that may be on a waiting  list, the  opportunity to come.
Many, many thanks to all of you for your support and “atta girls”. We   cherish each and every one of you that help make it all happen through   your support of great music on the farm.
By simply being on this property you agree to hold  The Frog Pond, Blue Moon farm and it’s owners harmless and not liable  for any injury sustained to you or someone under your care… If you do  not agree with this policy we ask you to (carefully) enjoy the great  musical outdoors elsewhere. ;o)
No dogs, there are plenty of waggy tails here to love on.. (RiP  Cheesie,.. sigh.., Possum, Trudy, Bucket and Doobee..(Yep, there’s a  story in that there name..)
NO FIREWORKS!!
No underage children without parental supervision. We love kids and  love it if they love music,  but all children must remain within reach  of their parents..Remember it’s a listening venue and  children must  remain quiet in the “Listening Zone” as we record all performances.
No drugs
No smoking within the buildings. Smoking is fine outside and there  are cans for ashtrays and butts. Remember to be respectful of those  ‘downwind’ from you.;o)
Petting the horses is fine from outside their field boundries. Please  don’t go into the fields with the horses or the pens with the chickens.  ;o) Or anywhere that is clearly marked for non-entrance.
We have fire extinguishers everywhere. If it looks like something is  on fire that shouldn’t be,  please feel free to use them & yell out  FIRE ..lol..;o) Watch out for each other.. It truly takes a village.
A small flashlight is  good to bring. The parking is in the field  North of the house. So, a walk in the dark through the moonlight, (or  lack of it) after it’s all over is in your future here at the farm..  Flashlights are also good to have if you decide to ‘wander’ to the port o  let or to your car..
For some events camping is available if your driving a distance to  get here. (We’ve had folks from MS, Fla, N.Y. Germany, Ark., LA, TN and  Australia.. We have port o lets and an outdoor shower.
We encourage folks to use the port o lets as the farm is old and the well and septic tank are not far behind in age..lol
There’s a handicap ramp onto the deck of the old house, but there is NO handicap access to bathrooms if your in a wheelchair..
Should any ‘newbies’ have questions about any of the above. Please feel free to drop me an email or give me a call.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For house concerts the suggested donations may vary depending on the cost of the artists playing the farm for that particular event, and it’s collected at the gate as your name is checked off the list. The cost of the performers in total, determines the per person ‘donation’ at the gate. The music is a NOT FOR PROFIT event for the farm and I’ll add the suggested donation beside each upcoming performance event on the calendar below so that those attending know what we need to cover the costs.

Times may move an hour forward or back depending on daily temps, weather or added opening artists to the list.. Any last min. changes will be posted on Facebook. If your not on Facebook, just email me, check the website or give me a call to ask any questions to stay connected to farm news.

Blue Moon Farm is available for other private events now.. Weddings, parties, birthdays, private music events.. Pass the word. It’s a great place for private ‘gatherings’ of all kinds..

If you’d like to attend any of the house concerts..Get on the list. If you find you’re not able to attend, please let me know so a space can be made for someone else. Remember, our capacity is limited and if you don’t show up after making your reservation, someone else doesn’t get to come. That’s a sad thing when it happens. Your reservation is your commitment to support the artists coming to the farm with your donation for them at the gate. A 24 hour heads up if you find you can’t make it, gives us time to give someone else that may be on a waiting list, the opportunity to come.

Many, many thanks to all of you for your support and “atta girls”. We cherish each and every one of you that help make it all happen through your support of great music on the farm.

I am honored to be performing at the 1st Annual Maui Jazz And Blues Festival September 23 & 24, 2011. The festival will take place on Hawaii’s island of Maui at The Grand Wailea Resort with a solo performance on Saturday, September 24th (stage & time tba).

It is rare that I perform solo without a band, so I look forward to the opportunity to break out of the norm and strip it down to Acoustic and Dobro, allowing me the freedom to try out some new songs in the raw.

After a three-plus-year absence from the funky Meters, Brian Stoltz rejoined his band mates for the 33rd Anniversary of New Orleans music club, Tipitina’s. The jam-packed, sold-out show was a celebration for Stoltz and Art Neville as well, who first performed together 30 years before at the famed club in September 1981 when Stoltz became guitarist for The Neville Brothers Band.

Guided by the hand of Special Forces Commander, Art Neville, The ‘funky’ Meters led the bouncing, wall-to-wall, floor-to-balcony crowd through a wide range of grooves, moods and funky, but intense improvisations, executed as seamlessly in the moment as the day this configuration last played in 2007.

Stoltz down-played the excitement by saying, “Eh…it’s like riding a bike..it’s all we know how to do! We don’t know how to play any other way but Full ON and in the moment! If it’s not One-Mind at work it falls apart – although even then it’s still a pretty good. In the heat of battle there is no territory that George Porter Jr. and I can’t explore. The particular chemistry of this band is extremely unique and highly-intuitive. Taking the stage with the funky Meters brings about a heightened state of awareness that automatically puts the music in a hyper-creative space. The four of us having an expanded range in age brings about the best of our generations and genres as well as. Everyone being a Master of those genres has something very unique to bring to the mix along with the security and confidence that come with not taking yourself too seriously. The funky Meters will fearlessly try anything that comes to us in front of any crowd regardless of size.”

Stoltz is scheduled to perform with the funky Meters on all future dates including a three night run at Brooklyn Bowl, February 15, 16 & 17, an appearance at Austin City Limits Live March 4th and a Spring Tour of New Zealand and Australia.
